About Me

I have completed my graduation and post-graduation from Dharwad, Karnataka in the field of Microbiology. I worked short research stints in different institutes (ACTREC & CIFE, Mumbai) and finally reached Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology centre, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara for my PhD in the field of Microbiology.

After my PhD, I worked as a Senior research fellow and Research associate at CIFE, Mumbai. Shifted back to Gujarat as Assistant Professor initially at CG Bhakta Institute of Biotechnology, Uka Tarsadia University, Bardoli and now working at Department of Biological Sciences, PD Patel Institute of Applied Sciences

(PDPIAS), Charotar University of Science and Technology (CHARUSAT).

Since my M.Sc. dissertation, I have been working with microbial metabolites and their application. My M.Sc. dissertation was purification and characterization of protease from a bacterium.

During my PhD under Prof Nerurkar at MS University of Baroda, I worked with microbial Bioemulsifiers and their affects on microorganisms themselves in adhesion and degradation (and remediation). Working at CIFE under Dr. Nayak, I again worked with microbial remediation abilities for Nitrogen eutrofication in aquatic systems.

I have been an intermediate guide during my PhD for 9 M.Sc. students. But after joining CGBIBT at UTU, and now at PDPIAS, CHARUSAT- I have guided/guiding 28 M.Sc. students for their research dissertation.

Presently I am working with extremophiles like Halophiles and thermoresistant bacteria from hot water springs for their metabolites, I am also working with microbial amyloides and bacterial biofilms.
